Do You Really Know the Power of Water?

We all know we should drink water, yet how many of us reach for soft drinks or sugar-laden iced teas instead? With so many tempting beverages available everywhere, it can be hard to make water you first choice. You already know that you should be drinking more water, but here six health benefits to motivate you now more than ever.

Number 1: Improvement of mental abilities.

When you keep your body well hydrated it can help to improve your cognitive abilities as well as your mental function. Additionally, allowing your body to become dehydrated will lead to a reduction of the brain’s capacity for your short term memory.

Number 2: Improvement of physical performance.

There is a large amount of evidence that suggests that dehydration as well as poor water intake is associated with a decreased amount of muscle performance as well as your overall athletic abilities. When you have a good amount of water intake it will allow your heart to pump more efficiently, which will keep the blood fluid and increase the oxygen transport to the body’s muscles. When you drink water it also helps to keep your body cool and help joints and muscles to work in a more efficient manner.

Number 3: Improves your body’s ability to expel toxins.

When you drink the proper amount of water, it will help to remove any toxins that are water soluble from your body through the kidneys and sweat. Water will help to flush your system and cleanse your entire body from toxins that tend to build up on the organs and tissues.

Number 4: Improves your body’s ability to shed excess weight.

When you drink more water, it will help you to actually lose extra weight. There are a number of studies that have shown that a number of people that increased the amount of water they drank while dieting actually lost more weight. When you drink water it will delay the hunger signals that tell you that you need to eat, which reduces the amount of food that you consume.

Number 5: Reduces the chance that you will have a stroke or a heart attack.

When you drink more water there will be more fluid in the blood. This will help to prevent the formation of clots in the blood vessels. This can jeopardize the supply of oxygen to these areas and actually result in a fatality.

Number 6: Improves the function of your bowels.

If you drink less than the suggested amounts of water, chances are that you have experienced several cases of constipation. Increasing water consumption can eliminate this issue.

You already know that drinking enough water is crucial for better health, yet it can be hard to get in the required amount of water each day. Pack a water bottle and sip on one wherever you go. At the office, keep your water bottle filled and set time reminders to drink a half a cup every hour.
